Hi, I’m John, founder of jkt Architecture. I’ve always believed that a home is more than just a building - it’s a reflection of the people who live there. Whether its a small single storey extension or a bespoke self home, I approach every project I take on, with a passion passion for designing unique and contemporary, low-energy homes that are as beautiful as they are sustainable.
John's Story
Before setting up jkt Architecture, I spent years working in some of Yorkshire’s leading architectural practices, gaining experience across a variety of project sizes and sectors—from commercial and industrial buildings to residential extensions and bespoke self build homes. This diverse background has not only deepened my design expertise but also sharpened my ability to work closely with clients, guiding them through the entire process to ensure they have the best possible project experience. For me, great architecture isn’t just about the final result; it’s about making the journey enjoyable, collaborative, and inspiring.
jkt Architecture was born from a desire to focus on what I love most: creating unique homes that blend modern architecture with sustainable design principles, to produce beautiful homes with exceptional energy performance and living comfort. I’m a firm believer that sustainable architecture doesn’t mean compromising on style. Instead, we must embrace the beauty of natural materials and the innovation of building technologies.
Outside of architecture, I’m a huge football fan (Aston Villa, of course!) and love nothing more than spending time on the golf course, seeing live music, or exploring new cultures through travel. I also love to get lost in good book. Whether it be a gripping novel, personal learning and development or discovering new architectural ideas, reading plays huge role in my down time and sparks the creativity I bring back to my work. I wouldn’t be who I am without the people I have around me. My Friends and Family are huge part of my life. Having fun and spending time with them are the moments I cherish and ignites my inspiration for designing better homes for friends and family to enjoy.
