Our Role:
Structural Engineer:
Having worked with our client previously to help renovate and refurbish their 1960’s bungalow, A few years later our client returned to us, seeking our help for some much-needed expansion to their home.
Working carefully to minimise any disruption to the recent transformation, jkt Architecture worked closely with the client to develop a large dormer loft conversion and garage conversion to provide 3 additional bedrooms a dressing room and 2 bathrooms, along with a new utility room on the ground floor.
Our client knew the only way to create the space they needed was to take advantage of their generous loft space, but they were concerned by the idea of “flat roof dormer”. Through the use of 3D visualisation, we delicately illustrated how not all “flat roof dormer” need to be ugly!
Working through our creative process we developed a design incorporating a hidden flat roof to create a clean and contemporary look, alongside beautiful thermawood timber cladding and oversized aluminium glazed windows that soak up the onlooking countryside views.
What once was a tired and dated 2 bedroom bungalow has now been transformed into a striking 2 storey 4 bedroom family home, including a home office, utility room, open-plan kitchen/living/dining area, separate lounge and 3 bathrooms.
The works don’t stop there, as our client embarks on the final stage of their development looking to overhaul the landscaping works to put the final touches on this beautiful bungalow renovation.
