The renovation of this intricate and characterful period property based Roundhay, Leeds was a welcome challenge following our appointment.
From the moment you arrived through the front entrance all the way through to disjointed connection with the back garden, this existing home, whilst filled with character and beautiful historic features, severely lacked any natural flow and functionality.
The unconventional sloping site and "semi-basement" nature of the lower ground floor presented a difficult, but welcome challenge to transform our clients home into the much-wanted, light and open space she desired, whilst remaining sympathetic to the homes style and character.
Our final scheme presented the approach of upside-down living with bedrooms and bathrooms predominantly located on the lower ground floor and general living spaces on the upper ground floor. From the split-level entrance hall to the extensive structural remodelling, basement underpinning and glazing alterations, the final design offered a stark contrast to the previous, dark and congested layout, providing a light and open living space subtly tailored to meet the individual needs of our client and her daughter.
